VDI in a Box with Citrix Access Gateway VPX Failover Configuration

Recently I was implementing a Citrix VDI in a Box 5.0.2 proof of concept at a customer site. One of the goals was to deliver the VDI in Box desktops to endpoints over the internet.

A Citrix Access Gateway VPX 5.04 infrastructure was already so it was a no brainer to use this infrastructure to accomplish the secure remote access to VDI in a Box.

Extend Desktop Director to Xenapp

As you may or not know Citrix recently extended the capabilities of Desktop Director. Desktop director was first introduced with XenDesktop 5 and gives the administrator and helpdesk users 1 single glass of pane to support their XenDesktop environment.
And now with the release of Desktop Director 2.0 Citrix included management for Xenapp sessions! It is now possible to aggregate both XenDesktop and Xenapp sessions into 1 management console both it’s also possible to use Desktop Director solely for the management of Xenapp sessions.
This post is a walkthrough in how Desktop Director is installed to enable the management of a Xenapp 6.5 environment.
