Thursday 5 March (Business Faculty)
Tuesday 17 March (Xylos Antwerp)
Virtualization is hot; you can read about it every day in the ICT magazines. Virtualizing server environments has almost become a commodity. Companies no longer hesitate to virtualize their production environment, and most leading software manufacturers are formally supporting this trend.
This technology is implemented with a view to cost optimization and to increase flexibility and reliability.
What about Desktop Virtualization?
‘Virtual Desktop Infrastructure’ – or in short ‘VDI’ – uses the same basic components as server virtualization.
There are several manufacturers (VMware, Citrix, Microsoft, …) offering solutions to make all this possible. A universal standard has not yet been set, which makes it necessary to design your ideal solution based on your specific requirements.
Anywhere/anytime access to information
Currently most companies still work with ‘classic’ PCs that run their programs on a local drive. In certain cases ‘Terminal Services’ are used to facilitate access from outside the company.
More and more, we see that ‘anywhere/anytime’ access to information and systems is becoming an absolute must for businesses. Furthermore, mobile users expect this kind of connectivity when working from different types of devices (laptop, home PC, a PDA or a kiosk PC at the airport, …).
Making the entire PC ‘virtual’ is one possible way to reach this target.
Xylos has a lot of experience in designing and implementing ‘IT Life Cycle Management’ solutions and offers you 'the perfect match'.
During the VDI seminar we will introduce you to our approach to desktop virtualization projects and we will provide you with an answer to the following questions:
- Which technical solutions do we currently have at our disposal?
- When can desktop virtualization be an added value to your organisation?
- How can I actually apply it to my organisation?
After enrolment, you will receive a White Paper, clearly explaining all options. This White Paper introduces you to the Xylos approach with our calculation of your Return on Investment (ROI) should you implement VDI, and this in accordance with the objectives you intend to achieve.
